Prepare For Your Lash Appointment

The most crucial thing to do before your appointment is to remove any and all makeup! Please come with a clean face, and avoid creams or oils if possible! This will save time, and you won’t be charged for a lash bath before we begin. Clean lashes are so important for retention.

t’s always a good idea to shower before your appointment so you don’t have to worry about wetting your eyelashes 24-48 hours after you leave. After a day or two feel free to get them wet, just avoid soaps and cleansers that have oils in them!

Avoid Caffeine before your appointment! It makes it much harder to isolate, and place lashes when the clients eyes are fluttering more than usual, due to the caffeine in their system.

Always use the restroom before so we don’t have to take a break during the appointment! Wear clothing that is going to be most comfortable for you during your time to relax.

These are the most valuable recommendations I have for clients before they attend their appointment! This ensures you get the most out of your lashes, and appointment time.

Keep Your Lashes Clean

If you’re someone who wears makeup everyday, or only a few days a week I recommend cleaning your lashes everyday or the days you wear makeup to remove the oil from foundation, concealer or eyeshadow that may have fallen into the lash line throughout the day. For people who don’t wear makeup you can get away with doing a lash bath two or three times a week, depending on how oily your skin may be.

Skip Oil Based Products

This goes for creams, serums and foundation. I know this can be tough to avoid, so I always tell clients that if you are going to use it avoid the eye area if possible, to reduce the risk of poor retention. And NEVER put mascara on your eyelash extensions!

DON’T PICK OR PULL YOUR LASHES

This is a big one that I see time and time again. Picking your lashes will absolutely affect retention, but most importantly the next time you come for a fill I may not be able to fill your lashes as much as the previous time because you will be missing natural lashes causing gaps. This goes for rubbing your eyes, more specifically your lash line. Your set may not turn out as you’d like, because a lash technician can only place extensions on the natural, healthy lashes you have.

Avoid Steam & Heat

Be conscious of when you’re drying your hair, or opening an oven that the heat is not getting too close to your lashes. Anything with heat or open flame near your lashes will cause them to either burn or lose their curl. Steam is also something to avoid for example hot tubs, or steam rooms. The moisture may result in losing more lashes than usual before your next fill appointment.
